Curatorial Description
Executed in a close friend's studio in Santa Monica shortly after the opening of
the 8/8 Lions Gate portal, Lions Gate 8:8 Cosmic Detox is a deeply psychological
and triumphant celebration of life, self-love, and spiritual alignment. The
composition serves as both an expressive playground of color and a literal ritual
of dismantling who the artist is no longer, joyfully shedding old weights to step
into her true energetic spirit.
The visual field is dominated by a sweeping, multicolored vortex—a massive
green and teal spiral that pulls the viewer into a deep, celestial expanse. This
central motif bridges the present moment with a vivid recurring childhood
phenomenon: before the age of 15, the artist experienced intense dreams of
being engulfed by massive galaxies of stars. In these visions, vast cosmic swirls
would make full revolutions, drawing closer and tighter until the intersecting lines
shrunk to an absolute pinpoint, triggering her to wake up at the final second.
Embedded within the surrounding layers of bright pinks, purples, and blues is
intimate, raw hand-written word poetry serving as a literal medium. Hidden text
layers like "I LOVE YOU" function as an energetic armor, while a playful, explicit
script reading "bye bye" signals a deliberate psychological detox—releasing what
no longer serves her to make way for a radiant, unburdened presence.
By rendering these lifelong sub-conscious mysteries onto a 9x12 page, the artist
masterfully transforms a recurring dreamtime landscape into a permanent
modern artifact. It stands as a vibrant visual altar honoring gratitude, resilience,
and the continuous resurrection of the self.
